The gruyère routes are offered by Cultural routes of Switzerland ViaRegio. They consist of historical and thematic routes worthy of interest, which go over the most beautiful cultural Swiss landscape.
Day 1 : Montreux - Les Avants
Walk along the old trail between Montreux and Les Avants via Sonzier and the stone bridge. Walking time : 2h00.
Day 2 : Les Avants - Montbovon
Walk to Les Allières via the Jaman pass (3h10). Discover the old mule track that the merchants used to follow, then walk down to Montbovon. Walking time : 4h40.
Day 3 : Montbovon - Gruyères
Walk through Haut-Intyamon to Grandvillard via the covered bridge and Lessoc village (1h45). Not to be missed are Grandvillard’s cave and cascade. Lunch in Grandvillard. In the afternoon, walk along the agrosilvicultural path bordering the Sarine river and walk up to Gruyères via Saussivue and Charrière des Morts (2h00).
Day 4 : Gruyères - Charmey
Walk to Charmey via the Pont-qui-Branle (the shaking bridge), the Marches chapel, the Jogne gorges and the right bank of Montsalvens lake.
Day 5 : Charmey - La Valsainte - Charmey
Walk to the Chartreuse de la Valsainte (Valsainte charterhouse) via the path of Les Revers. Walk to Cerniat for lunch. Return to Charmey via Tertzons and Le Fou. Walking time : 3h30.
Day 6 (return) : Charmey - Montreux
Visit of a mountain pasture chalet at Vounetz with its cheese-making facilities (Gruyère AOC). There and back by cable-car. Return by coach and train to Montreux.
