Stage of the GRAND TOUR linking the Intyamon valley to the village of Charmey.
Montbovon - Charmey. Leaving the Sarine River behind, the hiker will enjoy going through the valleys and forests of the Intyamon before reaching the Vanil Noir reserve, the home of chamois and marmots. He/she will sleep in a hut, the Bounavaux Hut, at an altitude of 1,620 m., then walk through the Motélon Valley and join the Jogne Valley before reaching Charmey.
Look out for a number of unusual local features, such as the covered bridge at Lessoc or the Monse plateau (a very old hamlet with a chapel going back to the 16th century), and be sure to enjoy the uninterrupted views across the whole of Upper Gruyère. This route can also be tackled in the reverse direction, leaving Charmey and reaching Montbovon.
