This itinerary can transform a simple hike into a dream day.
When you leave the summit of the Moléson (2002 m), having got there either on foot or by funicular and cable car from Moléson-Village (1100 m), you have before you a splendid panorama - from Mont Blanc across to the Jura via Lake Geneva. When you get to the Col de Villard, the itinerary winds down to Plan-Francey (1550 m) via the well-known Chalet de Gros-Plané, where farm produce and Gruyère specialities may well fill you up before you move on to Plan-Francey, from whence you can get back to Moléson-Village on foot or using the funicular.
