For those who want to discover the canton of Fribourg

The highlights of the canton are impressive! Immerse yourself in the world of cheese production at La Maison du Gruyère, experience the city of Fribourg of the year 1606 with the help of an augmented reality app and let yourself be enchanted by the glass art of the Vitromusée Romont, Swiss Museum of Stained Glass and Glass Art.

Day 1 – La Gruyère

At the foot of the famous Gruyères Castle, the Tibet Museum houses an edifying collection of Himalayan art dating from the 6th to the 18th century, a true invitation to meditate. Just steps away, at the HR Giger Museum, science fiction and fantasy art awaits you. For a change of scenery, treat yourself at the Chocolaterie de Gruyères. Savor the house specialty “bean to bar” and melt into pleasure. For a cheese tasting, go to La Maison du Gruyère, demonstration cheese-dairy. In the Musée gruérien you will discover what makes the locals proud. Poya paintings, an original alpine chalet with a shingle roof or the history of the city of Bulle are excellently presented. Back in the small Town of Gruyères, enjoy a traditional dinner in the restaurant des Remparts, before heading to the Hotel de Gruyères for a relaxing night.

Day 2 – Fribourg

If you want to experience pre-winter magic, you can take part in a guided city tour at dusk. Or you can go on a journey back in time: “Frÿburg 1606” is much more than an audio guide, this augmented reality application lets you immerse yourself in the history of Freiburg’s Old Town. For museum fans, Fribourg is a true paradise. A visit to the Espace Jean Tinguely – Niki de Saint Phalle and the Museum of Art and History should not be missing. Railway fans will adore the miniature world of the Chemins de Fer du Kaeserberg Museum, which is a 610m2 treasure, to be explored in detail. For a divine meal, enjoy the sumptuous decor of the restaurant L’Aigle Noir, its magnificent panoramic windows and its environmentally friendly regional cuisine. The newly renovated Café des Arcades offers a unique view of the city’s landmark, the St. Nicholas Cathedral. And there is still so much left to discover. Why not extend your stay at the Hotel Le Sauvage

Day 3 – Romont

Once upon a time, there was the smallest city in Europe… the town of Rue was founded in the 13th century. Go back in time via the intramural promenade and discover the oldest buildings, witnesses of the origins of the city. Continue your escape in the Romont region by immersing yourself in the remarkable colors and lights of the Swiss Museum of Stained Glass and Glass Art. Workshops open the doors to glasswork, a chance to be seized! Not far from there, on the town walls, the escape game of the Tour de Fribourg heralds an unusual and intriguing journey. Finally, you should not miss a visit to the Wallpaper Museum in Mézières. The evening ends with indulgence at the Hotel & Restaurant La Belle Croix
